One of the symbols of Florence, the Giardino dell’Iris at the foot of Piazzale Michelangelo is the creative inspiration behind the Richard Ginori capsule collection Giardino dell’Iris. The decoration is entirely hand-painted and depicts the iris, the emblem of Florence, applied to porcelain using a technique reminiscent of the engravings and watercolours of German naturalist and painter Maria Sibylla Merian. In this capsule collection of table centrepieces and vases, the design, celebrates the ephemeral beauty of flowers on porcelain in a vivid transposition of reality.
